I wrote up a report, and submitted it to Icom Japan during APDXC 2014 in Osaka last November. This is especially noticeable with compression activated. ![]() Select only one of the four configurations. Last year I ran an SSB 'talk power' test on an IC-7100 in my lab, and was able to confirm that the IC-7100 lacks 'talk power' on SSB in comparison with other Icom radios. The chart below describes four radio frequency range configurations and the specific diode(s) that enable that configuration. In the IC- 7100 the radio frequency range can be opened in various configurations. Remove the following diodes to open the referenced frequency ranges. ![]() Size of the diode.no way in hell I'd have been able to do that! Here is the before and after photo from drgrant doing the Mars mod on my IC7100. If I do indeed end up removing D6316, will it open TX as well as RX at those frequencies or am I just looking at RX? (Either way is fine because I am not licensed to TX on a big portion, e.g. 1 I currently have a Yaesu 991 (not 'a' version) which I really like, but recently Ive got an itch to try something new and keep one as a backup radio. I have yet to open the radio and check these out and see how hard they are to remove but I am curious if anyone has attempted a mod involving these diodes before. If removing diode D6316 it lists these as opening the 'desired frequency band': This is the mod concerning diodes D6315, D6316 and D6310. I am looking at the document Icom produced for what they call the 'expanded frequency mod'.
